Fresh off the second five-point game of his career (and second of the past month), Krys Kolanos was named the AHL’s Player of the Week on Monday – or the P.O.W. as we like to abbreviate it around these parts. We caught up with the 30-year-old sniper after Wednesday’s first practice of the week.
Kolanos not only rung up six goals, five assists, and 11 points over four Heat games (all wins), but he also extended his AHL-leading goal scoring streak to seven games (11-7-18), which is just two games off the longest goal scoring streak seen at anytime this season in the league.
Kolanos was also named the P.O.W. way back on October 31st, when he piled up seven points (4-3-7) over his first two games played after missing a season and a half of hockey do to microfracture hip surgery.
