1. “We’re Going Streaking”: The Heat string together their eighth straight win. Now just one regulation loss has been suffered in their last 14 games. Impressive. The team appears to be focused and in the present, and was able to overcome some early jitters in the first period to guarantee at least a split heading back to Abbotsford. Now Sunday will see a major opportunity to place a stranglehold on the series.

2. Nasty Nemisz: Sophomore forward Greg Nemisz was great in his first ever Calder Cup playoff game. The two-time Memorial Cup champion sure knows about winning in the playoffs, and showcased a gritty game working with Roman Horak and Akim Aliu scoring twice from ‘high-traffic’ areas. Nemisz’s second of the night was a textbook playoff goal as he banged in a puck while sliding on his belly in the crease.

3. Special K & Special Teams: Krys Kolanos recorded a pair of goals and assists in the win, and the PP & PK were excellent. Four points for the Heat’s leading sniper feels like just another day at the office for ‘Number 8′, but the special teams showing is encouraging. Two power play goals is great, and five-for-five on the penalty kill illustrates why the Heat were the top Killers in the AHL on the road this season.
