1. SPECIAL ‘K’: Great to see Krys Kolanos creating chances… and finishing them. The 31-year-old Calgarian tied the game at one (less than three minutes after the Stars took the lead) with a power play marker on a gorgeous pair of plays from Roman Horak (on the forecheck), and Ben Street (seeing-eye back door pass). Kolanos then joined T.J. Brodie and Roman Horak (now 3/4 on the season) scoring in the shootout to seal the win. Kolanos in the zone rhymes with unstoppable. He’s not quite there yet, but tonight was a great to see for last season’s leading scorer.

2. BRUSTACULAR: Barry Brust remains undefeated in regulation this season through ten starts. Brust now has eight wins, and a single loss in both overtime and the shootout. Saturday night was Brust’s busiest night of work this season – facing 39 shots in regulation and one more in overtime – and the busiest night any Heat puck-stopper has faced this season. The Kelowna raised goal keeper stopped three-of-five shot attempts in the shotout to boot.

3. ROBO-BREEN: ‘DON’T MESS WITH BREEN! DON’T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT. YOU WILL BE UPPERCUTTED IN THE FACE WITH A RIGHT HAND, AND CRUMPLED TO THE ICE WITH EASE’ – that may be the message Francis Wathier spreads to his teammates after another decisive tilt that favoured the 6’7″ 230 pound rear-guard. All jokes aside, Breen is an immensely difficult sparring partner to handle with his huge wingspan and patient approach. Another checkmark for the big fellow.
