1. FRUSTRATING FINALE: Despite outshooting the Griffins 26-11 in the final forty minutes, and hitting A crossbar each period, the Heat couldn’t find an equalizer in a game they controlled for the second and third period. Penalty killing was perfect, but so was the enemy net-minder as the Heat struggled to get scoring chances from in close. The loss leaves the Heat with a pair of points from their three-in-three roadie.
2. GOALIES GREAT: Petr Mrazek recorded his first pro shutout by making saves on all 32 shots, while Danny Taylor did all he could to give the Heat a chance at earning points. Taylor allowed just a single goal against for the seventh time in his last nine starts, and stopped a penalty shot in the first period to keep the game scoreless. Both goalies were great, too bad Taylor didn’t get a star he deserved in the 1-0 loss.
3. SLAMMED SCHEDULE: The opening of this road trip was the first of 14 games in 24 days for the Heat, as they are now into one of the busiest stretches of the season. The Heat return home for four games over six days before heading out for another dozen days in the Midwest in mid-February. Crunch time is now with a logjam atop the North Division. Points are at a premium.
