1. BRETT-ZKY CARSON: Heat Defenseman Brett Carson continues to contribute to the Heat offense, scoring a goal and adding an assist in the Heat’s 3-2 win. Carson now has seven points (4-3-7) in just eight games played. Last season saw Carson arrive after suffering an off-season back injury that seemed to hobble him for the duration of the 2011-12 campaign. No such issue this year. Carson has added a dynamic presence on a blue-line that lost T.J. Brodie and Steve McCarthy in January.

2. PERFECT PK: The Heat went to the well a fair amount on Tuesday, but it never went dry as the club erased all eight Americans power plays. The AHL’s top ranked penalty kill made Rochester’s second ranked power play look rather pedestrian over the course of the game, including two brief five-on-three advantages. Coach Cail MacLean’s PK has been stellar all season, and is now operating at an airtight 89.6%.

3. CRAZY CROWD: 6,172 fans packed the AESC for the second annual ‘School Day Game’ which was as loud as any event hosted in the four year history of the building. The Heat gave the screaming, dancing and singing fans what they came to see, scoring three straight goals to skate to their 16th home win of the season. I wouldn’t mind another school day game or two each season, neither would those who sell hearing aids or ear plugs.
