1. DARN GOOD DEFENDING: A tough loss for the Heat who outshot the home team 27-23, and got a fourth straight quality start from Leland Irving, but couldn’t score on Dustin Tokarski. Irving has been strong since being returned from Calgary, but incredibly his two losses he has suffered in regulation post assignment have been of the 1-0 variety. Full grades to the Heat blueline for allowing just 22 shots on net in the hard-luck loss.

2. ‘DOGS DRIVING: The win is the eighth in the last eleven games for the Bulldogs who have climbed out of the league’s basement and are eyeing a push for a playoff spot. Sylvain Lefebvre’s crew is young, but has always been hard working and now the results are coming. The Bulldogs have been the best side in the North Division since the beginning of February. Is it too late for a dash to the playoffs for the Bulldogs? Only time will tell.

3. POWER OUTAGE: The Heat were close on four power play opportunities, but failed to score for the sixth time in the last seven games. Special teams were a wash as Hamilton’s power play goal was scored into an empty net after a tough penalty on the visitors with 2:18 left in the game. The Heat have scored six goals in the last five games and four came in last Friday’s win over Houston.
